It requires a specific version and Nahimic must connect to it. Nahimic is dependent on the Realtek HD audio driver. But nowadays, MSI has removed the native Realtek HD Audio Manager so Nahimic is required to control some of the basic features of the audio system. Nahimic is just an add-on sound effects program to give you extra whiz bang features and I dislike it because it generates so much distortion. If it is installed correctly, you will have good sound. It is the one most important component in the audio system.
